Share the Heat event set for Sunday

Tuesday, October 24, 2023

McCOOK, Neb. - In an effort to provide vital assistance to families in southwest Nebraska struggling to cover their heating bills, the "Share the Heat" community program is set to kick off its 2023 appeal. The initiative has proven to be a lifeline for households facing financial challenges following unexpected events.

Over the past winters, "Share the Heat" has extended its helping hand to numerous households across seven counties, spanning from Benkelman and the Chase County area on the west edge to Arapahoe and Danbury on the east edge. The program operates by channeling funds directly to natural gas, propane, or electrical suppliers, ensuring that homes stay warm during the winter months.

To support this commendable cause, a fundraising dinner has been organized for this Sunday, Oct. 29. The event, which will be held at the Senior Center located at 1312 West 5th in McCook, will feature a variety of homemade soups, salads, and desserts from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. In exchange for this delicious spread, attendees are encouraged to make a free-will donation.

For those willing to contribute and help "Share the Heat" achieve its mission, donations are greatly appreciated. Volunteers are available to pick up donations, and you can reach out to Linda Nielsen at 308-345-1755, Angela Wagner at 308-340-1657, or Joyce Richter at 308-286-3241. Any form of assistance is welcomed, and businesses or organizations that offer support will receive recognition at the fundraising dinner.
