Saints plate 32 runs during doubleheader sweep

OXFORD, Neb. — Southern Valley-Alma Saints swept Chase County 18-2, 14-1, in a varsity softball doubleheader on Thursday.

The Saints (4-6 record) plated all 18 runs during their first two innings of game one.

Shortstop Bryn Baily trippled, scored two runs and drove home three as she also walked twice.

Kaitlin Bradley totaled two runs scored and two RBIs.

Eden Johnson jolted a double to support winning pitcher Josa Dunze, who struck out five in three innings.

Chase County delivered just one hit.

Game two featured Bradley’s three-for-three hitting, three runs scored and two RBI.

Bailey walked twice en route to adding three runs.

Zaile White zoomed a double past the Longhorns, scored two runs and batted in another two Saints.

Mikah Schultz pitched 2 1/3 innings, permitting one Chase run on two hits.

Southern Valley-Alma will play next at Lexington Tuesday as first pitch is set for 5 p.m. following the Labor Day weekend.
