McCook High School tennis coach Matt Wiemers was again honored to attend the recent National Coaches Association awards banquet.

Wiemers was named Nebraska Coach of The Year and was picked as a finalist for the second time to earn National Coach of The Year honors.

Wiemers previously earned that honor.

“Unfortunately I was not chosen as the National COTY, but it was a great honor to be a two time finalist,” Wiemers commented.

Don Barnes from Sioux Falls, S.D. (seated far right in photo) was named National Coach Of The Year.

It's about to get real fuzzy

McCOOK, Neb. — Wiemers also announced Colorado peaches will arrive in McCook on Saturday, Aug. 19.

“Fresh off the tree!” he declared.

The Bison tennis team’s annual fundraising effort culminates at the Wells Fargo building on West First Street across from Ace Hardware and Horizon Bank.

Peaches will be available from noon to 7 p.m.
