Imperial Seniors close to Class C state tourney spot
VALENTINE, Neb. — The Imperial Pinnacle Bank Seniors are in control of a Class C state tournament spot as they've gone 3-0 through since C-7 area play started on Friday.
No. 2-seed Imperial Horns have blanked Bridgeport's Bombers, 3-0, downed Palmer-Wolbach-Greeley, 8-6, and knocked off No. 4 Sheridan County 11-3 on Sunday.
Imperial's the only unbeaten area team entering today's 7 p.m. game against No. 6 Hershland.
No. 4 Sheridan County and PWG play an elimination game before Imperial takes the diamond.
Win or lose, Imperial will play on Tuesday with a chance to make the Class C state tournament at Rushville next weekend.
No. 1-seed Atkinson went 0-2 and has already been eliminated from the C-7.
