McCOOK, Neb. — After completely renovating the pickleball courts at Russell Park last year with around $50,000 worth of improvements, the location is holding an open house for residents to view the new facility, talk to passionate members of McCook’s pickleball group, and generally learn the game.

The McCook Pickleball Court Project was planned by Wellness McCook as part of the “McCook on the Move” initiative, which continues to meet regularly to facilitate progress in certain wellness projects.

The Initiative has members representing the City of McCook, Community Hospital, Community Hospital Health Foundation, Elevate Wellness, Mid Plains Community College, McCook Community Foundation Fund, McCook Pickleball Group, McCook Public Schools, and Ed Thomas YMCA.

The open house is set to take place Wednesday, Aug. 2 from 6 to 7 p.m., with a ribbon cutting at 6 p.m., at the new courts at Russell Park on East 5th and J Streets.
