Bison and East deliver All-Star volleyball win at MCC

McCOOK, Neb. — The East team downed the West, 3-1, Saturday at the McCook Community College Wild West all-star volleyball game.

The east won the first game 26-24 with the west coming back to take the second game 25-21. The East took the final two games 25-14, 25-19.

Incoming MCC freshman Caylin Barnett, Southwest, was named the most valuable player for the east and Mae Siegel of North Platte St. Pat’s was the most valuable player for the west.

Barnett led the East with 14 kills to go along with 15 digs and one ace. Siegel had 16 kills to lead the West squad along with 10 digs and two aces.

MCC Alum Ashley Palic and Matt Matt Chitwood coached the East while two former MCC players, Janie Sommer and Victoria Thomas, coached the West.

Here are some other statistics for the East team:

Joy Rippen, McCook led the east with 16 digs to go along with 10 kills.

Mataya Stubbs, Maxwell, was credited with 14 assists, seven digs, one ace and one kill.

Emerson Swanson, Arapahoe, had 12 digs and served an East-high four aces.

Breelle Miller, Cambridge, had 11 assists, four digs, three aces and a kill.

Zoey Evans, Hi Line, had six assists, three kills, four assist blocks and a dig.

Milla Farr, Medicine Valley, had seven kills and two assist blocks.

Gracelyn Wiemers, McCook had two digs, one kill and one assist.

Regan Schroeder, Cozad had seven kills and three assist blocks.

Other statistics for the West team:

Kiley Hejtmanek, Maywood-Hayes Center, was credited with 17 assists, three kills, 16 digs, one solo and two assist blocks and one ace.

Tahlia Steinbeck, Hershey had 14 kills, 16 digs and two aces.

Olivia Hansen, Maywood-Hayes Center, had seven kills, two digs and one assist block.

Halee Bardsley, Wauneta-Palisade had 16 assists, three kills, three digs and one ace.

Ashlin Broz. Maywood-Hayes Center, had 13 digs.

Elizabeth Reeves, Chase County, was credited with six assists and four digs.

Bryn McNair, Chase County, had six digs.

Lacey Bruner, Sutherland; had four digs.

Cali Cox, Wauneta-Palisade, had two kills, one assist and one dig.
