McCOOK, Neb. — The McCook Summer Swim Team is ready to hit the water with practices starting after Memorial Day.

Practices are from 12-1 p.m., Monday through Thursday at the YMCA pool, beginning Tuesday, May 30 through July 14.

Swimmers are encouraged to attend as many practices as they are able.

Summer swim team is open to all ages - including adults - who can swim the length of the pool without assistance and good form. Swim team is not a replacement for swim lessons, but rather an opportunity to better swim skills and enjoy competition.

Participants have several options as part of the McCook Summer Swim Team.

For a $10 registration fee, swimmers can just practice with the team for the season, which will run through July 14.

They also have the option of joining McCook’s team for the Plains Tsunami Swim League, which consists of 25-30 teams from central and southwest Nebraska, northwest Kansas and eastern Colorado.

This includes weekly meets throughout Southwest and Central Nebraska. The league fee is $30 for the season.

McCook is also pairing with the North Platte swim team to host a home meet in mid-June at the McCook YMCA as well as attend a meet at Cody Park in North Platte on July 1.

For those swimmers looking for a long-course meet, McCook will be joining the Kearney swim club for several meets.

And McCook will be sending a team to the Cornhusker State Games’ swimming competition, scheduled for July 7-8 at the Fremont YMCA.

McCook’s summer swim team will be coaches by McCook High School Coach Jon Graff and McCook YMCA Coach Jennifer Rodewald, along with several assistants.
