Look back atbest Best of West Bison champions

SUTHERLAND, Neb. — Another Tuesday closer to glorious summer vacation and no school featured McCook High’s girls winning a prestigious “Best Of The West” annual showdown.

Team scores were tablulated on athletic.net.

The Bison joined two-time Class C state Chase County girls in topping 22 other teams that scored points.

Freshman Emma Cappel and junior Izzy Renner both unleashed their fastest 1600 meters ever for two of those top three spots.

Meanwhile, the Bison 3200-relay recorded its best time with seniors Shawna Wilkinson and Leah Spencer leading that effort.

Sophomore powerhouse Paige Bortner blazed yet again as did super junior Sienna Dutton.

McCook delivered a 1-2 punch at shot put thanks to champion Kori Rippen and senior fture collegiate thrower Brittni Kinne.

Several other Bison hit personal bests as can be seen among the seemingly endless verbage below.

Senior Bryn McNair was part of three championships for Chase County.
