R.B. Headley/McCook Gazette

McCook senior Joy Rippen (seated in gray shirt, center) signed to play basketball for Nebraska Wesleyan University this morning at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln.

A classic “gym rat”, an open McCook gymnasium meant Joy was likely working on her game morning or night. She became of McCook’s leaders in just about every important category during this most recent season.

More will appear in upcoming Gazette.

Seated with Joy from left are senior classmate and three-sport athlete Gracelyn Wiemers and Holden Rippen (right). Standing from left are TJ Wiemers, Megan Wiemers, Kori Rippen, Kelly Rippen, Ted Rippen, Nebraska University women’s coach Tyler Bullock, Sara Rippen, Crew Rippen, Julie Rippen, Garrett Rippen and Shane Rippen. Bullock is a former collegiate basketball player at both Denver University and the University of Omaha.

He’ll begin his first full season as women’s head coach.
