STRATTON, Neb. — Thanks to the American Red Cross, a rural Stratton family is living in a McCook motel after losing their rural Stratton home in a Sunday night fire.

Amber Van Dinter said her family of five was able to evacuate the home near the Kansas border after an electrical fire broke out in the basement about 5 p.m.

The house, which was uninsured, was fully engulfed before firefighters could arrive.
