All-state duo will represent Bison in Shrine Bowl

McCOOK, Neb. — Some information obtained from McCook High football coach Joe Vetrovsky during the weekend:

The McCook Bison Football program is proud to announce that seniors Adam Dugger and Eli Kehler have been selected to play in the 65th Nebraska Shrine Bowl Game. This game will be played on Saturday June 3, 2023 at Ron and Carol Cope Stadium on the campus of the University of Nebraska at Kearney in Kearney, NE.

"Both of these individuals will do a great job representing our football program, school, and the community of McCook," Verovsky commented. "We are very proud of both Adam and Eli for what they have meant to the McCook Bison Football program"

Dugger was a Class C1 1st Team All-State selection in 2022.

m. Literally, do it all player. At the safety position on defense Adam was in on almost every play. For the 2022 season, he had 67 total tackles (57 solos, 4 TFL’s), with 3 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, and 4 pass break-ups. In 2022, he was also a force on offense at the quarterback position being 48/81 for 733 yards and 9 passing TD’s, while also adding 672 rushing yards with 11 rushing TDa.

Eli Kehler was a Class C1 1st Team All-State selection in 2022. He was a multi-year starter for the Bison Football program. Strong and physical offensive lineman. In 2022, Eli was the anchor for an offensive line that had a rushing attack that accumulated 2,802 yards on the season. I

* 2022, 9 of the 11 games the McCook offense scored 30 points or more and Eli was a big reason for that success. He was also an impact player for the McCook defense while on the defensive line. In 2022, Eli had 35 total tackles (31 solos, 4 TFL’s) while pressuring the QB on numerous occasions and he even had one blocked punt on the season.

He was a captain for our football program during this senior season.
