ATWOOD, Kan. — The Rawlins County (Kan.) girls reached 4-1 on their early-season roll with Tuesday’s 37-32 home win over Northern Valley (Kan.).
Senior Michaela Rippe scored 16 clutch points to help her Buffs separate from a feisty 3-3 foe from Almena, Kan.
Teammate Abby Micek helped dominate the second half. She netted seven points in the third third period while Rippe netted six.
Micek drained a long-range three during that quarter where Rawlins outscored those Huskies 13-9.
Sophomore Taten Deweey took over the final eight minutes where she delivered six huge victory-clinching points.
Micek totaled 11 for the game and Dewey added nine points.
Rippe made five of her nine field-goal attempts.
Freshman Katie Shively and Dewey both stepped up to secure five rebounds, behind only Micek’s six.
