McCook league crowns newest ball champions

McCOOK, Neb. — Several local pool players were recently recognized for winning the Summer Session of the American Poolplayers Association (APA) 8-Ball and 9-Ball Pool Leagues.

The Sunday 8-Ball titles were claimed by “Second Sons” and “Smallballz” out of TJ’s Family Fun Center in McCook.

Team members of “Smallballz” include Marcie Doak, Roemello Grier, Marty Bartlett, Drew Harms, Steve Bartlett, Aaron Leggott, EmiLene Sides and Jerimey Pace.

Earning Sunday League MVP awards were Kathy Haddix, Gary Skeen and Burton, Madelyn McKain, Tommy Lewis and Roemello Grier.

Burton also received Top Male 8-Ball Player in Western Nebraska APA.

The Monday 8-Ball championship went to “Buddy’s Scooby Gang” out of TJ’s Family Fun Center in McCook including Brandon Burton, Rob Dike, Tom Harris, Kasandra Barber, Eddie Park and Rick Shafer. Not shown are Scot Coon and Tammy Dike.

Monday MVP awards went to Deanna Brott, Bruce Hagan and Drew Harms.

Winning the Thursday 9-Ball League was “No Fouls Given” out of Just 1 More in Hayes Center including Bill Goings, Brady Gittlein, Jeremy Loomis, Brian Monnahan, Tanner Bardsley, Rory Kerchal and Regan Gittlein. Not shown is Lindsey Loomis.

MVP awards went to Heather Shafer, Ryan Lukas and Drew Harms.

Winning teams each session advance to the Western Nebraska APA World Qualifiers to compete for trips to the APA World Pool Championships in Las Vegas.

Vickie Thornbrugh from Stratton earned the APA Milestone certificate for surpassing 500 matches played in the 9-Ball League while Glenn Morgan from McCook earned his in 8-Ball.
