Charles “Mike” Lowber Hendricks III

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — Charles “Mike” Lowber Hendricks III, age 76, formerly of McCook, Neb., passed away in Russellville on Sept. 20, 2022. He was a graduate of Atkins High School, received his bachelor’s from Northeastern Oklahoma State, and Master’s from Oklahoma State University. He began his professional career as a Tulsa police officer and ended as a sociology and criminal justice professor at McCook Community College, where he retired from in 2016 after 21 years of employment.

Mike enjoyed playing golf, attending concerts and sporting events, discussing politics, and happy hour at Sarge’s.

While in McCook, he had a radio show called “Mike at Night” that led to a weekly column in the McCook Gazette by the same name. He continued writing for years until he moved back to Arkansas in 2019.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norma Jean and Ovid Patterson; his father, Charles Lowber Hendricks Jr.; and son, Brandon Hendricks.

He is survived by the mother of his children Linda Stumpff of Russellville; sons, Michael Hendricks of Tulsa, Okla.; son and daughter-in-law, William and Erica Hendricks of Fayetteville, Ark.; grandchildren, Pearl and Elliot Hendricks of Fayetteville; and many friends in McCook.

Mike will especially be remembered for his enjoyment in socializing and being a lifelong Democrat.

The family would like to thank Brookdale and Kindred Hospice for their kindness and compassion shown to him.
