NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — McCook coach Tom Sughroue offered some insights from a strong McCook cross country season debut at Saturday's invitational south of North Platte.

"With a new season you alway wonder how things will go. You hope things will go as you think they will. After 3 weeks of practice we thought we should have a nice start to our season.

After watching our teams compete on Saturday I would have to say we are off to a great start.

On the boys side we place 2 boys in the top 7 of the race Josiah Wilkinson and Grant Cappel. Both running times that are very comparable to where they finished the 2021 season.

As a team we finished 4th in a tough field of teams. A very good start to the season.

On the Girls side we looked very strong. Finishing 5 girls in the top 15 in a very tough field of runners. the lady bison were led by Sammy Rodewald, Followed by Emma Cappel, Sienna Dutton, Shawna Wilkinson and Brecken Gale.

The girls finished 2nd in the team race to a very strong North Platte team, a team we will see several times throughout the season.

I would say we had a very strong start to the season."

Watch for results and more details this week about the Bison.
