No. 5-seed MNB Seniors start area play on Friday

GOTHENBURG, Neb. — The McCook National Bank Seniors can only move up when they meet Holdrege to start B-6 area playoff baseball on Friday.

MNB (0-15 record) is seeded fifth among the five teams competing while Holdrege (7-10) holds the No. 4 spot.

First pitch is set for 3 p.m. Friday in Gothenburg.

Holdrege won two wild high-scoring affairs over MNB during the regular season, 16-10 at McCook on June 1 and a 14-6 victory June 20 in Holdrege.

Friday’s winner advances to play the No. 1-seed Minden (14-7 record) at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

No. 2 Broken Bow (15-10) and No. 3 Gothenburg play Friday’s second game, set for 6 p.m. following the McCook-Holdrege collision.

The five-team tourney continues through a B-6 championship game at 3 p.m. one week from today.
