LINCOLN, Neb. — The McCook summer swim team wrapped up its season at the Cornhusker State Games at the Fremont YMCA pool Friday and Saturday.

Over the course of two days, swimmers from across the state competed on a long course format, where one length was 50 meters which means fewer flip turns on a 50, 100 or 200 meter race.

While they have practiced in the McCook YMCA’s 25 meter pool since early June, the McCook swim team put on a good showing on the eastern end of the state.

Fellow MHS swimmers Emma Graff and Deacon Kinne also earned a first place medal in one of their events.

McCook summer swimmer Taytum Roskop captured second place among 50-meter freestylers in her 11-12 age division at the Cornhusker State Games on Saturday. Taytum is an Arapahoe student who also swims for the McCook YMCA winter team.
