Connie Marie (Rucker) Ward

March 29, 1944 - March 16, 2022

SUN CITY Ariz. — Connie Marie (Rucker) Ward was born March 29, 1944, in McCook, Neb., and passed away March 16, 2022, in Sun City.

She grew up in rural Hayes County, the daughter of Vernon and Mildred (Rann) Rucker.

After attending Hayes Center Schools, she married Garry Ward. They lived in McCook, Omaha, Denver, Oregon and finally Arizona, where they retired after Garry’s career as a pressman.

Connie was a rural mail carrier and a nanny while raising their three children. She loved to dance, do crossword puzzles and play numerous games on her iPad. Mostly, she loved beating her son at Scrabble. She loved her many dogs and cats and had a soft spot for all animals.

The highlight of her life was traveling to Europe with Garry and her sister, Carol, to visit her grandson and wife. She was a kind, loving, generous mother and friend and will be greatly missed.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Mildred Rucker; grandparents, Power and Hannah Rann, Calvin and Edith Rucker; step-father, Arvene Myers; and brother-in-law, Delmer Schuman.

She is survived by husband of 61 years, Garry Ward; daughter, Christi Kimbrough; son, Danny (Melissa) Ward, and daughter Trisha (Ben) Jellison; granddaughter, Nichole (Kaan); grandsons, Matthew (Katharina), Jay (Stacey), Lee (Sandra), Jonah, and granddaughter Danielle; sister, Carol Schuman; brother, Jerry (Janet) Rucker; and brother-in-law Boyd Jr. (Barbara) Ward; as well as many nieces and nephews and friends. Lastly she leaves her beloved fur baby, Sophie.

A celebration of life will be at a later date.
