KEARNEY,Neb. — Marvin Lee Rall, age 84, of Kearney, passed away Monday, March 14, 2022, at Kearney Regional Medical Center. Memorial Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at St. James Catholic Church with Father Joe Hannappel officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at the Kearney Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5 p.m., Monday, March 21, 2022, at St. James Catholic Church with a wake service following at 6 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Kearney Catholic School Foundation. Marvin was born to Virginia and William Rall. He attended Kearney High School and earned his GED while he was enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at Pendleton, Calif.  Marvin and Sharon Zimmerman of Riverdale were married on May 7, 1958 in Kearney.

Marvin and Sharon raised four daughters, Deb, Cindy, Susan and Lori in Kearney.

Marvin worked for Sears in downtown Kearney for 37 years in sporting goods and automotive. Throughout his life Marvin loved fishing and hunting. He also was an active member of the Kearney Knights of Columbus Slow Pitch softball team for many years.  Marvin has always enjoyed swimming with his daughters and family at the swimming pool or at Johnson’s Lake.  Marvin was proud of maintaining his house and the landscape, while he resided in Kearney. Marvin and Sharon were members of St. James Catholic Church. He cared deeply for his family and held true to his convictions, morals and faith. 

Marvin is survived by his wife, Sharon of Kearney; his brothers, Jack, Joe and Jim; his daughters, Deb, Cindy, Susan and their families.  Survivors also include six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with another on the way.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry; and daughter, Lori.
