Store full of memories

Thursday, December 2, 2021

Dear Editor,

The Helping Hand Thrift Store in McCook represents a community of people that provide a generous service for our area. The hours donated reflect an organization of caring souls for many other souls. There is much more to the store than the bargains that are enjoyed. It is the experience of being with others, the warmth of acceptance and relief of gentleness. It is a place where people will visit and share stories.

This all was revealed to me as a volunteer in the Christmas room last week. The story shared by a customer gave me encouragement to hear and appreciate life as we progress through pain and joys.

It started when the customer found a manger scene which brought back good memories that she shared before taking it to the check out counter.

There is a store full of bargains and memories awaiting you this holiday season ... at all similar thrift shops in the area.

Thanks for listening

Don Harpst,

McCook, Neb.
