Bison subdistrict all set along with Class C area teams

O’NEILL, Neb. — A 257-mile road trip on Monday only means the McCook softball girls will see familiar foes to start their B-9 subdistridt title.

The Bison (7-18 record) are seeded third and will take on No. 2 Holdrege (10-15) at Carney Park in O’Neill.

McCook has won two of three over the Dusters this season.

First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m. against coach Jason Hale’s team.

O’Neill has earned the No. 1 seed and tourney hosts with its 13-9 record.

No. 4 Lexington (5-23) will take on the Eagles at 2 p.m.

This quick single-elimination tourney matches the two winners at 5 p.m. to decide this B-9 subdistrict champion.

State-qualifying district best-of-three matchups will then be set for late next week.

Southern Valley-Alma and Chase County also move into Class C district tourneys.

The Saints (10-0) are seeded second in C-9 at Kearney's Patriot Park. They'll play a 4:45 p.m. semifinal against No. 3 Minden (9-19).

No. 1 Kearney Catholic (25-6) meets No. 4 Ord (2-23) at 3 p.m. Championship game is set for 6:30.

Chase County (5-20) is seeded third in the C-10 at Cozad's Bellamy Park. They'll meet No. 2 Gothenburg (20-10) at 5 p.m. following the 3:30 semifinal between No. 1 Cozad (20-10) and No. 4 Hershey (4-24).

Championship game is also set for 6:30 p.m.
