It seemed like a time machine must have transported the parking lot of the Cobblestone Hotel back to the Roarin’ 20s for an overnight stop by the Model A Ford Club of Colorado. Fourteen Ford Model A’s, 1928 to 1931, were traveling back to the Denver area after a trip to the Tulip Festival in Orange City, Iowa, a trip delayed one year by the pandemic. Next month, the club plans to ship 23 Model A’s to Portland, N.H., then drive them home. Four modern cars and a transport accompanied the group to assist with occasional breakdowns.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Joyce Laaker, former president of the club, spoke with Editor Bruce Crosby to provide information for this story while she and other club members enjoyed breakfast before leaving McCook Tuesday morning. We received word today that Mrs. Laaker passed away peacefully shortly after arriving in her Longmont, Colo., home. "We are all in shock," wrote fellow Model A Club member Linda Rickard. "But I know she was excited that you spoke with her -- she was a very long-time member and loved the club and cars."
