Bison JV team wins Medicine Valley golf title

CURTIS, Neb. — The McCook Bison junior varsity golf team competed in the Medicine Valley Golf Invitational on Monday at Arrowhead Meadows Golf Course.

The McCook Bison junior varsity golf team were the team champions with a team score of 386. Paxton High School was runner-up as a team with a 416.

“ The Bison golfers competed very well today and everyone improved throughout their rounds,” coach Joe Vetrovsky reported.

The Bison were lead by junior Matt Nichols who scored a 92 and was the individual champion for the invite.

“Matt played very well today and managed the golf course nicely,” the coach observed.

The Bison had four other team members place in the top 15 and medal for the tournament:

Matt Nichols - 92 (1st Place)

Jonas Sommerville - 96 (4th Place)

Trevor Nokes - 99 (8th Place)

Ian Brown - 99 (9th Place)

Jacob Risenhoover - 115 (14th Place).

Another McCook Bison junior varsity golf team competed in the Chase County Golf Invitational on Monday April 26th at Enders Lake Golf Course.

The McCook Bison junior varsity golf team finished in fourth place with a team score of 445.

The Bison were led by freshman Cole Graham who scored a 107 and placed ninth for the invite.

“Cole played very steady today and was able to capitalize on some opportunities throughout his round,” Vetrovsky stated.

The Bison had two other team members place in the top 15 and medal for the tournament.

Jackson Dellevoet - 111 (15th Place)

CURTIS, Neb. — Medicine Valley finished fourth and Maywood-Hayes Center earned fifth behind champion McCook JV golfers at Monday’s Medicine Valley invitational.

Bison junior Matt Nichols shot 92 to win the tourney, just one stroke better than Hi-Line’s Cade Schmidt with 93.

All the other Bison medalists are mentioned above as McCook finished 30 strokes better than top challenger Paxton (416).

Medicine Valley shot 477 for fourth place with Kolin Pate capturing 11th place at 102.

The Wolves from M-HC were fifth at 505 where Weston Morrw earned sixth overall as he shot 98.

Hitchcock County was just two strokes behind the Wolves with a 507 team total.

Kaleb Christopherson’s 122 led the Falcons through he couldn’t quite reach this tourney top 15 medalists.

Ory Johnson from M-HC earned the final medal in 15th place, shooting 117.

Cambridge’s Brodie Mitchell was fifth overall with 98 though the Trojans did not enter a full team into this tournament.

Southwest’s best score came from Colton Sedlack at 130. McCook’s Rylan Peters totaled 58 to win JV nine holes.
