Bad weather outlooks means Indians play today, Wednesday

McCOOK, Neb. — The McCook Community College softball games scheduled for Thursday against Southeast Community College will be moved up two days to try and avoid rain forecast for Thursday.

MCC and Southeast will play a doubleheader Tuesday starting at 2 p.m. at the Jaycees Sports Complex. Both teams compete in the Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference.

The Lady Indians are 25-9 overall and 3-1 in the NCCAC standings, tied with Central Community College for first place. The Lady Raiders are 6-2 in the conference and 8-14 overall. MCC and CCC split a pair of games in Columbus March 18 and play in McCook April 20.

Southeast is 2-12 on the season and 1-3 in NCCAC play, tied with North Platte (2-6, 6-22 overall). The Lady Indians and the Lady Storm have not met so far this season.

Baseball games also moving to Wednesday

The McCook Community College baseball team is moving up a game this week in attempt to avoid forecasted precipitation Thursday. The nine-inning game against Southeast Community College was moved up a day from Thursday to Wednesday starting at 2 p.m.

Southeast CC (19-10) leads the southern division of the Empire League (Region IX) with a 13-4 record against league opponents and just completed a three-game sweep at Sterling, Colo. Sunday with a 21-5 win over Northeastern Junior College.

MCC (22-17) took two of three weekend games at Scottsbluff against Western Nebraska and moved up third in the South standings with a 13-9 league mark.

This will be the third game of the season between the Indians and the Storm. The two teams split a doubleheader in McCook March 12. They are scheduled to play again this weekend in Beatrice with one game Saturday and a Sunday doubleheader to wrap up their slate against each other.
