McCOOK, Neb. — Michael Eugene Zwickle, age 73, of McCook, passed away Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020, at Hillcrest Caring Center in McCook.

Mike was born June 13, 1947, in McCook to Harry M. and Golda L. (Roller) Zwickle. He was one of three siblings who grew up in McCook, graduating from McCook High School with the Class of 1965.

Following high school, on Oct. 7, 1966, Mike enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served his country on the USS Ranger during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 19, 1969.

Upon his return from the service, Mike married Connie Miner on May 18, 1970. He became the proud father of his two sons, Travis and Todd.

Mike was employed by Burlington Northern Railroad, where he worked as a brakeman for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed restoring old cars and going to car shows with his sons. The 1955 Ford Pickup and the 1938 Ford Coupe were two of Mike’s favorite cars.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gary Zwickle; his sister, Diane Meissner; and a great-niece, Allysha Fischer.

Those left to celebrate Mike’s life include his sons, Travis (and wife, Kelli) Zwickle of McCook and Todd (and girlfriend, Nikki) Zwickle; his granddaughters, Ashton (and husband, Lane) Caldwell, Nichole Stevens and great-grandson, Carter Hawks, all of Rock Springs Wyo.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A Celebration of Life graveside service will be at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 27, 2021, in Memorial Park Cemetery, McCook, with Pastor Kyle Dellevoet officiating.
