Community Hospital stops offering TestNebraska service

Monday, March 1, 2021

McCOOK, Neb. –After eight months of partnership, and more than 1,400 tests completed, Community Hospital has stopped offering the TestNebraska service. This service is still available throughout the state. Those in need of testing, please visit www.testnebraska.com for dates and times in the area.

“Thank you to all of our volunteers that spent countless hours testing our community,” said Tricia Wagner, Community Hospital Community Outreach and Wellness Coordinator. More than 26 Community Hospital volunteers provided TestNebraska testing in McCook, Trenton and Curtis in 2020. “And, as always, thank you to our supportive community.”

Due to the low COVID-19 positivity rate in southwest Nebraska, numbers of people needing testing have been low the last two weeks. Wagner said only five people needed services at the drive-through event last week and 24 the week before.

Community Hospital transitioned in late January 2021 to assist the Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department in vaccinating community members for COVID-19. That has been going well, according to Sharon Conroy, Community Hospital Infection Preventionist. By the end of March, Community Hospital would have assisted SWPHD in giving nearly 700 first and second doses of the vaccine.
