Time to censure Sen. 'Benedict Arnold' Sasse
Dear Editor,
Congratulations to the Hitchcock County GOP (Republican Party) for planning an emergency meeting Saturday, Feb. 6, 2 p.m. to consider a resolution of censure against Sen. Ben Sasse for his vote to have an impeachment of Pres. Trump. Don’t think about it, just do it and get 100s of Republican signatures that are registered and live in the state G.O.P. Central Committee District No. 315. This includes Red Willow County. Call Bruce C. Desautels of Stratton, Neb., for more information or read plans in the Gazette, page 2, Friday, Jan. 29, 2021.
I sent my letter directly to the modern-day Benedict Arnold, Ben Sasse. But one signature doesn’t carry much clout!
Looking back many years, 1948 to be exact, I was 18 years old and on my honeymoon to Detroit, Mich. We were to pick up a new car and then head back to Nebraska. My new brother-in-law, Dr. Redfern, took us for a tour of the city. I remember seeing so many buildings looking a bit oriental? So he explained that the Chinese had been investing quite heavily in properties in the city. So we drove by these investments, mostly banks, schools, construction temples or churches, etc.
As we drove by a bank, I voiced my thoughts, “I was glad my year’s teaching money was in my 100-year-old bank in Bartley, Neb., safe and sound!
Everyone gave a little chuckle, as it wasn’t a very big account, but it was safe in an American, old, and tried institution. This was 1948, remember.
So how much of our good old U.S. of A. does China own in 2021?
I’m hoping Nebraska voters will let Ben Sasse know he will be short of votes the next time he runs for Senate.
Pat Redfern,
McCook, Neb.
