Letter to the Editor

Finger-wagging

Tuesday, January 5, 2021

Dear Editor,

Anyone who missed NBC’s Meet the Press, last Sunday, where a contentious debate ensued between Chuck Todd and Senator Ron Johnson over the so-called conspiracy theory over the fraud in the recent election touted by President Trump and the Republicans.

Paraphrasing, to wit:

Todd: “Don’t you think you guys are starting a fire in our country, being arsonist, so to speak”

Johnson:  “On the contrary! It was you guys in the media who started the fire two years ago, who were the real arsonists in our country and for two years you kept stoking the fire.”

From here on, Chuck Todd broke all rules of debate, shouting down the response, and the responder while “wagging his pointer finger” in the face of Johnson,” as if to say, “Shame!, Shame! on you. Shut up! How dare you attack  me, and our ‘sacred cow’, the Media!”

The readers will not find this personal analysis of the debate in Google’s report of this debate But then, the reader should remember that Google and the Media have both their ‘goats’ tied to the same post --two bugs in a rug, that “snuggle close together.

Sincerely,

James G. McHale

Cambridge, Neb.

  • Well, James, here it is 611PM CST and the rioting by the Trump insurrectionists in Washington, DC, has been put down, one woman was shot dead, and the interior of the Capitol Bldg is in ruins.

I hope you find some degree of pleasure in your umbrage towards Chuck Todd for upbraiding SEN Ron Johnson, not known for his adherence to truth, facts, and reality, for his piling kindling upon the fires of dissent by the Trump legions of the sick, lame, and lazy, blind, dumb, and crazy who have followed so willfully the lies of Donald Trump, Ron Johnson, Ted Cruz, Mo Brooks, Louie Gohmert, and so many other GOP Senators and members of the House of Representatives.

So many millions of the Trump legions have embraced stupidity and ignorance as personal virtues, to be displayed as badges of honor, while living in terror of truth, facts, and reality and being incapable of critical thinking. They have chosen the lies of Fox News, One America News, Newsmax, Breitbart, Townhall, The Federalist, and the Daily Caller, as just a few examples of the many neo-Nazi screeds promoting Trump liberation theology for the intellectually addle-brained.

So, James, doubtless you present yourself as both a patriot and a christian. I'm sure that in your mind, you can somehow legitimize those standards in some feeble way, living up to standards that exist in fantasy. Hope your future letter-writing endeavors end more favorably, James. You lost big-time with this letter.

  • Joe & fit2btied: Where were you when the rioting, looting and desecration of private businesses were happening? I don't recall Dems stopping them or even wanting to arrest anyone? These were private businesses, private home owners, private individuals who were working their butts off. Dems just said "it was freedom of speach".
