Area pool teams just miss trip to Vegas

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — Two area pool teams fell just short of advancing to the American Poolplayers Association (APA) 9-Ball World Pool Championships in Las Vegas when they lost in the finals of the Western Nebraska APA 9-Ball World Qualifier held at Eagles Club recently.

“We’re Solids, Right?” out of TJ’s Family Fun Center in McCook and “R.T.’s Redd Marx” out of Frank’s in Trenton took home cash prizes for their second-place finish.

Team members “We’re Solids, Right?” include Steve Bartlett, Austyn Hyde, Drew Harms, Marty Bartlett, Mike Templeman, Chris Schaffert, David Stockhaus and Ben Wragge.

Team members of “R.T’s Redd Marx” include John Thompson, Joe Warneke, Coke Thompson, Aaron Leggott, Ron Thompson, Orrin Riggs, Rod Ochsner and Eric Chalupa.

Thirty-two teams from all over western and central Nebraska qualified to play in the regional event in North Platte which had the top three teams earning a spot in the APA 9-Ball World Pool Championships to be held in Las Vegas.
