Apparent murder under investigation; no names released

McCOOK, Neb. -- A 79-year-old woman has been taken into custody and a 78-year-old man is dead in an apparent domestic killing.

The McCook Police Department issued a statement Thursday afternoon:

"At 9:22 a.m. on Aug. 20, 2020, McCook Police responded to a call for service on East 3rd Street. Officers discovered a deceased 78-year-old male. A 79-year-old female was taken into custody in connection with his death. An autopsy has been scheduled in OMaha. The matter is under investigation by the McCook Police Department. No further details are released at this time; however, the situation appears to be domestic in nature and there are no public safety concerns."
