Haigler cancels music festival

HAIGLER, Neb. -- Organizers have decided to cancel an annual music festival in Haigler.

The following statement was issued:

"..All options considered, and decision had to be made regarding this year’s Summer Music Festival in the Park scheduled for Sunday afternoon, August 9. Sadly, and with much deliberation in trying to make the right decision—we have cancelled.

"The coronavirus has made clear it intends to stick around for a while. Knowing we just could not enforce attendees to wear masks and safe distance, knowing our volunteers were reluctant to serve lunch and desserts at this time, knowing Dundy County has been so fortunate not to have any virus cases at this point (though it is all around us), the Haigler Community Foundation did not want to be responsible for a community spread of the virus by hosting a large festival event—even held outdoors. We shall look forward to the 2021 Summer Music Festival and are trying to rebook The Talbott Brothers to perform at that time."
