Courthouse reopens

The public is again welcome inside the Red Willow County Courthouse, but may find entrances blocked by a tuck pointing crew refurbishing the outside of the building.

McCOOK, Neb. - After being closed to the general public for more than nine weeks, the longest time in its 94-year history, the Red Willow County Courthouse is again open -- with restrictions.

The public is still encouraged to wear masks and may be asked to have temperatures taken, observe social distancing and visitors may find themselves separated from the staff more than usual by plexiglass barriers or other enclosures.

Weekly meetings of the board of commissioners are again open to the public without appointment, but the opening was not official in time for Monday’s meeting and no member of the public spoke during the designated time.

Commissioners approved an engineering agreement with Miller & Associates, represented by David Blau.

About seven miles of armor coating on road north and south of Danbury, as well as the road to Harry Strunk Lake are priorities this summer, and bids will be opened at 9:45 a.m. June 22.
