McCOOK, Neb. -- In what he said was one of the toughest decisions made in his 40-plus years with the Ed Thomas YMCA, retiring executive director Michael Gonzales reported that the board of directors voted to close the facility until further notice.

“We hope our members will continue to support the YMCA with their memberships during this time.”

The status of the soccer program will be updated when plans are available.

The Y planned to post exercise videos to encourage exercise class students to continue exercise at home while maintaining social distancing.

McCook Public Schools are closed until April 13, and information on other activities will be published as it becomes available.

Many restaurants are offering delivery or curbside service, banks have closed lobbies and offering services by phone or online, and Community Hospital and Hillcrest Nursing Home and other retirement facilities are closed to visitors.

USDA Service Centers are open by phone appointment only, and field work is continuing with appropriate social distancing.

Producers can find service center phone numbers at farmers.gov/service-center-locator, customers can conduct business at the Conservation Client Gateway or sign up for an eAuth account at farmers.gov/sign-in.
