Bison will kick off as Class B No. 2 team
McCOOK, Neb. — Somehow, the Class B state football title race rolls through McCook or someone finds Bison standing directly in their path to ultimate glory.
Nothing apparently will change entering this 2019 season.
After a No. 3 ranking from Omaha World-Herald voters, the Lincoln Journal-Star stepped it up even higher this week they tabbed McCook as Class B’s No. 2-rated team.
The Bison are second behind only defending state champion Omaha Skutt, who went undefeated at 13-0 capped with a dominant finals win over Scottsbluff.
Don’t forget about those Panhandle powerhouse Bearcats, though.
Scottsbluff holds the Class B No. 3 spot directly behind McCook and — yes — those district rivals will meet again to finish regular-season play on Oct. 25.
Scottsbluff will make its first trip to McCook since 2016 since the last two meetings have been on those Bearcats’ home turf.
