Tuesday, May 14, 2019

McCOOK, Neb. — A street dance, face painting and a farmer’s market are just a few of the activities planned for Thursday night for the first “Third Thursday” event in McCook.

To mark the end of the school year, the new event is designed to keep downtown McCook “open” later on the third Thursday throughout the spring and summer.

McCook’s first “Third Thursday” will be Thursday, May 16 with events scheduled from late afternoon through the evening horus.

There is no admission charge for Third Thursday.

The public is just welcome to get out and enjoy everything McCook has to offer.

Led by the McCook Chamber of Commerce, a local committee hopes to create a fun, festive atmosphere every third Thursday, with shopping, entertainment and dining on McCook’s bricks.

Just a few events and activities to enjoy include:

● Street Dance, 6:30-9 p.m., between Norris and West First on D Street by the Keystone; sponsored by Youth Change Reaction, open to all ages, no charge

● McCook High School band performance with current and alumni members, 6-6:30 p.m., Norris and D Streets

● Face painting, McCook cheerleaders

● Farmer’s Market, East First and D covered parking lot, various vendors

● Model Train display on the lower level on Norris Avenue will be open

● Various businesses will be open later up and down Norris Avenue for extra shopping hours

The next Third Thursday is June 20 with even more events planned. For more information about Third Thursday, visit Facebook or call the McCook Chamber of Commerce at 308-345-3200.
