Letter to the Editor

Thanks workers, contractors who built new homes

Thursday, April 4, 2019

Dear Editor,

In reference to the online responder’s comments in mid-February:

The reader wrote-“The last two houses built on the golf course were built by ALL out-of-town workers, what a shame”

It is true that some of the work was done by out-of-town workers and of course they slept, ate, bought gas and other supplies from McCook businesses.

The comments reminded me to thank all those local businesses that worked on these homes.

Barnett’s Lumber, Brooks construction, Bieker Welding, Blackhills Energy, City of McCook Building, Sewer, & Water Depts, Culligan Water, Diamond Vogel, Dan’s Sanitation, D & L Pest Control, Double D Lawn & Landscaping, Ellis Carpet Installation, Frontier Doors, Gerih Concrete, Gerhold Concrete, Glass Doctor, Great Plains Communications, Holliday Painting, K.C. Electric, Kildare Lumber, Kenai Construction, Lord’s, Miller & Associates, ODISS Enterprises, Painting Plus, Paulsen Sand & Gravel, Pristine Clean, R & L Sprinklers, Samway Floor Covering, Scotties Potties, Veteran HVAC, Video Kingdom, Walter Plumbing, K & R STD Construction.

It is important to note that ALL of the out of town workers were either employees of or sub contracters of several young men who grew up in McCook. While they run their Roofing, 3-D Home Design, and General Contracting businesses from eastern Nebraska, they continue to have strong ties to Southwest Nebraska.

I hope I have not left anyone out thank you.

Ron Friehe

McCook, Neb.
