Southern Valley golfers take second at tourney

BERTRAND, Neb. — Southern Valley golfers earned three of the top seven places and finished second among 11 teams at Monday’s Hiline Invitational.

The Eagles (367 total) were only six strokes behind champion Franklin (361) even Flyer Ryan Weiss soared individually with a winning round of 74.

Southern Valley’s David Trujillo took third (87) and Carter Brown finished fourth (89) just behind runner-up Austin Murphy of Bertrand (84).

Brody Yant claimed seventh place (94) for that third top seven SV place. Carson Bassett tied for 12th with a 98 to complete the Eagles’ team score.

The Arapahoe Warriors also competed as Cord Frink claimed eighth place (95). Tanner Deisley reached the top 20 (105) among 58 varsity golfers.
