He was born in McCook, Neb., in 1949 and has farmed north of Indianola his entire life. He is a member of United Methodist Church in Indianola. He has a bachelor of science degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in agriculture and has served on many boards over the years, including the Republican Valley School Board. He and his wife, Nona, have been married for 57 years. They have 3 daughters, Tyler and husband, Darren Esch of McCook, Tracy Zink, who operates the family farm
