McCOOK, Neb. — Red Willow County assessor Sandra Kotschwar offered her resignation to county commissioners during their weekly meeting this morning.

Kotschwar told commissioners that she and her husband, Mike, are moving to Omaha to be closer to their children and grandchildren in Omaha and Lincoln.

After working for the county for 411⁄2 years, Kotschwar’s last day will be Dec. 8. Commissioners Jacque Riener and Steve Downer (Earl McNutt was absent) accepted Kotschwar’s resignation “with regret” and with appreciation for Kotschwar’s years of dedication and service.

Downer told Kotschwar, “We wish you well,” and added, “I wish us well too,” in the search for a new county assessor.

Beginning Thursday, commissioners will advertise for applicants to fill the assessor’s position.
