Runners conquer the darkness in annual Glow Run

CAMBRIDGE, Neb. -- The darkness didn’t deter dozens of runners and walkers Saturday night at the Tri Valley Wellness Center’s Glow Run in Cambridge.

The Glow Run is the fourth event in the Republican River Fitness Series.

With headlamps and glow sticks to light the way, the Glow Run started at 9:30 p.m. and finished in the dark.

Even with that challenge, Stacy Priebe posted a fast time of 19:49 to claim the overall winner as well as the 40-49 men’s age division. Brandi White led the women’s divisions at 25:50.

Other top finishers included:

Women

19 and under, Paige Wilkinson; 20-29, Jordan Johnson; 30-39, Brandi White; 40-49, Shelley Wilkinson; 50-59, Theresa Eschliman; 60 and over, Sharon Beiber.

Men

19 and under, Jack Vogel; 20-29, Junior Hollerich; 30-39, Mike Farr; 40-49, Stacy Priebe.

Next up on the fitness series in Michelle’s Memorial Triathlon on Saturday, June 24.

Michelle’s Tri starts and finishes at the McCook City Pool, where participants will be able to swim or walk the swim portion of the swim-bike-run event.

Registration is a little different for the triathlon: There is no race-day registration.

LighOn-line as well as paper registration will close Friday, June 16 at 10 p.m.
