Big tourney about to swing into McCook

McCOOK, Neb. — The after-holiday week starts fast and furous with Tuedsay’s 9 a.m. McCook Invitational at Heritage Hills Golf Course.

There are 10 visiting teams scheduled to join the Bison for this annual invite featuring Class A North Platte and Grand Island, familiar foes Holdrege, Ogallala, Cozad, Lexington, Minden and Broken Bow.

York takes a Tuesday road trip to join in the tournament along with Kansas teams Decatur Community from Oberlin and Colby.

The Bison have been making steady improvements after four top players graduated from last year’s Class B stae champions.

North Platte has been a strong team at various tourneys this season while Grand Island likely brings a strong teeam.

Bison alum update

GOTHENBURG, Neb. — Former McCook two-time state champ Noah Hofman finished fourth while helping his Southeast Community College team take second at Saturday’s Wild West Shootout golf tournament.

Hofman shot 148 during the two-day tournament as Southeast totaled a 297, just behind champion Hastings College with 290 in this tourney.
