Trio of boys basketball teams closing on state tourney

The Southwest Roughriders, Dundy County-Stratton Tigers and Wauneta-Palisade Broncos all won subdistrict boys' basketball title games Thursday night.

All three can earn state tournament berths with district final wins next week.

Southwest surprised No. 1 seed Southern Valley, 42-38, at Cozad while DC-S and the Broncos scored decisive 13-point victories.

The Tigers knocked out Medicine Valley, 58-45; and Wauneta-Palisade beat Wallace 57-44. Both the Broncos and Tigers were subdistrict No. 1 seeds.
