Canada too cold? Try Hungary

Wednesday, November 16, 2016

If the election didn't go your way, and you decided Canada is too cold and you couldn't get the immigration website to work anyway, there's another place you might consider moving.

A Hungarian parliament committee has given initial approval for the country to remain on daylight saving time all year around.

The bill submitted by the far-right Jobbik party will now go to the full parliament.

Sponsor Lajos Kelpli said abandoning the twice-yearly clock changes would improve Hungarians' mental health and increase the nation's productivity. Effects of the time change are less favorable for Hungary than other European nations because it lies on the eastern edge of the Central European Time Zone.

Kelpi said having more hours of sunlight later in the day would help alleviate effects such as depression and suicidal tendencies.
