OMAHA, Neb. -- McCook made its mark on the Omaha World-Herald's Class B all-state softball team as three juniors earned honorable mention for 2016.

Top pitcher Avery Doucet tore up opposing pitches all season with 38 hits in 27 games, a .437 average, seven doubles, two triples, two home runs and 23 RBIs.

Junior Cassidy Beeby not only caught every Bison victory (14-13 record), she also hit a team-high four home runs and batted .333. Her seven doubles matched Doucet for top Bison honors.

Meanwhile, junior Emily Jacobs made an assortment of dazzling defensive plays at shortstop and showed her

Jacobs batted .325 overall and motored to a team-high 25 runs in the 27 games.

McCook scored some memorable wins throughout the 2013 sea- son including a 3-1 victory at district champion North Platte.

Doucet pitched a complete-game win against the Bulldogs, striking out six. She outworked North Platte ace Taylar Coleman who went on to win 24 games and make Class B's all-state second team.

Ace pitcher Olivia Douglas of Hastings made the first team. She posted a 29-6 record with one of those wins at McCook in September.

Hastings freshman Ellie McCoy made the second team after an awesome first high school season where she .482.
