Letter to the Editor

Just get along

Monday, January 25, 2016

Dear Editor,

Watching Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush and Chris Christie sparring and fighting like Medieval knights is frustrating. (There is no castle or drawbridge.) Over the horizon is the White House and its famous oval office.

Throughout history, various nations have become strong and then collapsed. An example of powerful domination was the Ottoman Empire.

It included Turkey, Greece, Syria, North Africa, Egypt and Palestine (Israel). However, after 700 years, it collapsed. Its Sultans were corrupt and weak leaders.

During World War I, it sided with Germany. This was like a final nail being driven into its coffin.

A famous quote from Proverbs 29:18 in the Old Testament states "where there is no vision, he people perish."

This is true in 2016.

As loyal Americans, we don't want to stand back and watch our country fall apart.

The U.S. is actively involved in preserving the peace in other countries. To succeed in doing this, we need to overcome our personal differences and work together.

Our long-term goal is to overcome roadblocks and to get along with each other.

Helen Ruth Arnold,

Trenton, Nebraska
