The family of Elsie Becker is requesting a card shower in honor of her 104th birthday on Sunday, Jan. 24. She was born in 1912, the sixth living child and second daughter of Carl and Doris (Fortkamp) Bartels, on her parents' home site on the Ough Divide in Dundy County south of Enders, Nebraska. She attended two years of high school in Enders but was unable to graduate as she stayed home to take care of her niece. In 2008, she received an honorary diploma from Enders School at an alumni banquet. She and her husband, Otto, farmed in Dundy and Chase counties in Nebraska, and they received the Conservation Award in 1960 for good stewardship of their land. Her family consists of daughters, Doris Craig, Evelyn Madison (Randy) and four grandchildren - Moncia Longhofer, Jeff Craig (Gina), Karla Williams (Jim) and Jason McAfee (Kelly); step-grandchildren, RaeLynn Johnson and Clayton Madison; great-grandchildren, Emily Jacobs (Eric), Jillian Longhofer, Vaughan Williams, Brody, Nevaeh and Delaney McAfee; great-great-grandchildren, Otto Sinn and Baby Finn Alexander Jacobs (deceased); and step-grandchildren, Kayli Galluzzi, Kaylin McAfee, Sonja (deceased), Morgan, Riley, Carter, Walker and Levi Johnson, Cienna, Caylee and Caden Madison.
