Letter to the Editor

Back together

Thursday, October 15, 2015

Dear Editor,

As children, we often played follow the leader and Simon says.

The future of the U.S. depends on the quality of its leadership. It is important to take our own individual responsbility seriously.

Multiple candidates are running for the presidency. Many of us are trying to evaluate them.

Exactly what is a good leader?

Able leaders set a proper example. They stand firm. Good leaders expect loyalty and give loyalty.

Capable leaders are frank, open and honest. They confer with experts.

A secret to their success is knowing how to delegate to authority and when to suggest interesting challenges.

They are students who collect data and then act. They resist acting on impulse.

People do not like to be forced to do something, even if it is for their own good. They don't like to "play kids games."

When negotiating with world leaders concerning critical issues, we expect elected officials to act with courage and conviction.

Tactfully, they are expected to be developing a workable solution.

They are investing in a better future, not just for America but for all the nations of the world.

Our main objective during the 2016 presidential election is putting the broken pieces of our country back together.

Helen Ruth Arnold,

Trenton, Nebraska
