100th birthday

The family of Florine Vernon of Oberlin, Kansas, is requesting a card shower in honor of her 100th birthday Friday, Oct. 16, 2015. She still enjoys her flowers and vegetable gardens and making bread by scratch, that includes grinding wheat for flour. Her family includes three children, Dorothy Shimek of Jennings, Kansas, and her late husband, Roger Shimek, Sharon (Eldon) Parde of McCook, Nebraska, Richard and Shelly Vernon of Wahoo, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren, Greg (Linda) Parde, Kim (Alisa) Parde, Dora (Perry) Strombeck, Tammy (Eugene) Parrish, Stanley, Michael Shimek, Rachelle (Richard) Gervais, Reve, Regina and Roberta Vernon, Richard (Amanda) Vernon; 12 great-grandchildren, Josh (Julie) Parde, Sigourney Parde, Dylan Parde, Breann (Chris) Cerda, Shala (Paul) Reitz, Sean Stephenson, Atheana Parde and fiance, Tim Lasslo, Dustin Parde and Beth Helmink, Pierre, Enoch, Trinity and Tobias Gervais; and three great-great-grandchildren, Edrea and Stella Stephenson and Christian Parde.
