In hot pursuit

Ricky Lambert of Wiggins, Colorado, pursues a black calf across the Kiplinger Arena in McCook, Nebraska, Saturday morning, during the first round of the annual "Wayne Boyer Memorial." Event coordinator Garrett Nokes of rural McCook was very pleased with the weekend. "It was really successful ... a great weekend," he said. "We had some outstanding ropers and outstanding roping. It was awful fun to watch." Nokes coordinates the roping event each year to memorialize his late uncle Wayne Boyer and Wayne's love of horses, his dedication to the sport of rodeo and his support of Garrett's professional rodeo career in roping and steer wrestling.
