How about parental control on commercials?

Monday, February 16, 2015

Dear Editor,

I just don't know what to think of our TV viewing.

I have notice that there are so many ways of having parental control on your television. There is parental control on some of the remotes with a password and most of your cable companies offer a parent control for certain shows and channels that you do not want your child to view and most of the satellite companies have parental control as well.

But what bothers me is that most is the commercials on TV, we as parents have no way of blocking the commercials that are not good for a child to see.

For example there is a product that advertise medicine for ladies who have had a painful sexual intercourse and there is also a medicine that a man can buy to improve their sex drive. Now just think for a minute, if you have a child at maybe 6 or 7 views this commercial, they would ask their parent what do all those words mean.

The commercial that advertise that you can start a law suit if you had a bladder sling and it went wrong, are you ready to explain to your child what all of this about?

I protest that as parents and good Christians we should pull together and find a way to pull the unwanted commercials off the television. If we can control the shows we do not want our children to view then we should have a right to pull all the commercials that are not fit for our children.

Thank You,

Kevin Dunn,

Holbrook, Nebraska
